Anyone used a PR service for press release distribution across targeted areas?

I'm looking for a comprehensive service that has created mass lists of contacts for distributing press releases to particular circuits.

Business Wire is the service I'm considering right now as they seem to have the bext list for what I need.

I don't need "free" pr site suggestions, there are plenty of threads about those. I want a real, professional institution that has been in business for years and made a name for itself.

Any experience with these services? TIA.

I think you would be better off using a newswire service. You send your press release to a journalist from a newswire service, then, if it's newsworthy, they write the article which is then distributed to print, radio and tv newsrooms regionally or internationally, depending on the story. Those news outlets can just use the story, no more work needed. Reuters or Associated Press are good examples.

The way you suggest would send the press release to all those same newsrooms, that's thousands of journalists who have to be motivated enough to all contact you and write a different version of the same story. Completely unrealistic and a waste of everyone's time.

Here is an example of how new works: pick up the newspaper in your local city. Go through all the articles and count how many have their own byline, citing a journalist from that newspaper wrote the story... and compare that to the mention of AP or Reuters or Agencies as the supplier of the article. Sometimes the journalist from the newspaper will change around the title and a few sentances then use a byline and say ...'with AP' or ...'with Agencies'

Thank you Dominic. Great advice, I think I'll try that. It makes much more since. I think I was trying to do it the more difficult way.

    I've added to your rep.
