Anyone use web site avatars?

I want to start using an avatar on my web sites similar to sitepal.com.

Does anyone have any experience with them. Are they worth it?

 

Oh, please don't. I hate those things with a passion. They are such a turnoff. If I land on a site that starts talking or playing music or making any kind of noise, I look for the off button as soon as possible. If I can't find an off button, I leave the site. In either case, I don't come back.

 

Lol, same here. I'm constantly watching adds in different tech sites about these avatars and I wonder how people can like that.

Last time I remember I was opening some tabs and started to hear "Hello.... hello"... was annoying. Isn't something I will put on my sites.

I do prefer live chat options.

 

I have gotten to the habit of surfing without the sound. I just hate talking ads. And anything else that talks. It is just annoying. Plus I also like to listen to music at times when I am on the computer. And if I get blasted by some ad over my music, I would never go back to the site. I think if you use those type of things you will lose traffic. But that is my opinion.

 

Not recommended except if for MLM

 

I don't like avatars. When I visited a blog or website I'm looking for something to read and not to listen to noise.
