A while back i was considering doing business with these guys a while ago, and their approach is you dont pay for their service unless you rank one the first page for the keywords you choose. And once you rank, they charge you $100/ month.

I had decided to do business with them back in the spring. They would not do work on my site because i wanted to use the term "Myspace" in my keywords.
I decided not to do business with them. But i am wondering if these guys are legit, i did do an extensive background check, and i couldnt find anyone that had anything negative to say about them. Thier site did rank in top 10 for common SEO rankings, so they seemed to have some proof of their work. However, i was getting a gut feeling that these guys werent legit.

Any help? Anybody done business with these guys?

    Heres the link: http://top10orfree.com

I wonder how they offer this for 100 a month without using unnatural practices.

well it doesnt say much for them when they are and SEO company and have a PR0 site. Also they state on their home page top20 search engines so i imagine what they include small meta search engines like ExactSeek when they say you dont pay unless they rank you on the first page. And a first page ranking on something like Exactseek, MetaCrawler, Jayde, Excite will not do you much of any good maybe 500 visitors a month from them......

    Top10orfree.com is a rip off.

Their "SEO" plan involves setting up 840 "keyword dense pages" on your site based on 45 keywords/phrases that you supply them. These will likely be spam filled pages (see below what they do to their own site for a sample). Any site gaining that many pages, even if they were relevant and well optimized, would gain a penalty from Google for adding too many pages all at once, and they are likely not anything your visitors will be impressed with.

It also involves their ageement to "Link your website to over 30,000 other web sites ". Notice they don't say they link those sites to YOUR site, but you link to them. This is probably how they gain traffic to their existing clients--linking them all to each other and Google is smart enough spot these linking schemes and penalize anyone involved in them.

Here is a list of their 10 engines (do some research and you will see are all fed by the "big Three":

    Google
    Teoma (AskJeeves, DirectHit)
    Yahoo
    Alta Vista
    MSN
    LookSmart
    Overture
    Lycos
    All the Web (Fast)
    HotBot

Also they don't charge you UNTIL "any of your keywords/phrases ranked in at least 25 top positions" and then they say "with ANY of the top 10 search engines".

So ANY of the 45 words you provide ranking in ANY of their 10 engines, can qualify you for being charged their 99.95 per month fee for one year and that doesn't mean they have to be one of your most important keywords.

Also check out their site in Google's site command. ALL but their home page is tagged with supplemental results and this is because Google has have over 20,000 pages indexed for their site when there are only 8 pages on the actual site (all the others are duplicates of the originals) and google records no links coming into their site although there are plenty of sites linking to them due to their referral policy. Quite clearly their site has been penalized by Google.

Don't fall for their spammy tricks.
