I'm writing this desktop app in C# for managing large amounts of documents in a static web site using xml as the datasource (eliminates the need to pay for hosting since you don't need php or a mysql, you just manage the data offline then upload it). Just wondering if this type of software is something people at DP could use. Regards
you could just over at abestweb.com in their programming forums...they do a lot of stuff with merchant data feeds
Well, I see you are pretty confused. You first day that one will not need hosting, and then say that "you can upload it"? Either you haven't fully understood what CMS actually is, or possible you calling it "CMS" mistakenly, when it should be called something else! Don't accuse me of discouraging you, but you may end up wasting a lot time and efforts of yourself. or, possibly, you meant that you want to build and API-kinda thing that can send an content(like articles, images, etc.) to web servers! Is there anything I am missing?
I didn't really clarify. The point about hosting is that you'd be able to use free hosting which normally has no database, but with my sofware you can manage your site's XML database that it generates for you, then you upload it. Then I make a web template that uses that uploaded XML file to display the list of documents and display them on the live site using AJAX. No Mysql, No Server Side scripts. Thanks for the comment though. I know it was constructive criticism and just makes me want to prove it more I already have a sample site and a paying contract to finish the static CMS. I'm also going to sell individual licenses
Hey, no problem man. Just a misunderstanding. Anybody else wants the trial version just post here. Thanks
