these days i am looking for 2checkout altrnatives... and while googling i found Charge.com..... any body heard of it?? using it?? how good is that! They are claming that its FREE to setup the account Let me know!
Indeed it is free to setup an account with them like many of the 3pp's out there. They have been around for a long time and I have seen some positiv reviews of them on several other boards. But thats only what I saw, please also make a quick check on google if you not already did it.
Yes, charge.com is a reliable merchant credit card provider and actually I applied 2CO through them. Ok, the scenario is like this, I visited charge.com last year after I did a researched of which the most trust able credit card provider and found charge.com, when I register my account with them and because I am not US citizen or stay at US they forwarded me to 2CO as an international credit card merchant provider, then I proceed to signup with 2CO until now.
honestly i have not heard about that, but then before using it you must be absolutely sure about it's reputation! anyways, i have not even used 2co, as it is paid!
There are many US merchant service providers that provide free setup for merchant accounts. Personally, I would recommend to stay away from any MSP that has a setup fee. Charge.com does have an annual fee of about $100 last I checked, and a $300 cancelation fee. They also have a high ($25) monthly minimum, about a $30 gateway fee and a $10 statement fee. Expect your monthly cost even if you don't process a card to be about $65. As far as service goes, I'm not sure how good they are. After looking for a few minutes I found both positive and negative reviews of them, so I cant give a definite answer on that one. They were recently purchased by a larger MSP who's looking to make a big profit with them, so definitely check the contract carefully. Search on google as well, as there are quite a few reviews of them.
If you have a porn site then use ccbill.com or epoch systems both are specialized in this industry. WorldPay and 2co.com are the one I would go with if I would look for some 3 party processor else go for your own merchant account with a bank. The bank's merchant account will be less expansive in the long term once your business is grown to make a high volume (about 50k or more)
Charge.com has lots of positive reviews but since, I am not a US citizen, no personal experience though.
Also, do a search on adult webmaster resources. There are several good sites that list all the payment processors, both direct and third party.
