Amazon S3 is meant for file hosting, not hosting a web site in the traditional sense. It does not recognize index.html as the default page or anything like that and obviously theres no php/mysql.

    Hi,

Amazon EC2 is like VPS or Dedicated server and S3 is for file hosting/backup. We havemigrated more than 50 clients to Amazon Web Services so far . If you need any help setting up Amazon Web services, please drop an email to sales at ideaminetech.com

The previous posters are right - you need Amazon EC2 for hosting. I advise you to install something like BitNami LAMPStack on it an you'll receive ready platform for hosting.

I can help you for free if you like. :) Please send me a PM.
I need first to see your requirements before being able to decide which services you need from Amazon to minimize the costs.
