I was just wondering if anyone had tried Shopify for an e-store? I'm looking for a dependable and customizable shopping cart system for my graphics business and OS Commerce just wont cut it.
I never tried them out. I will look into them though. I have used oscommerce and zencart. zencart is my choice by default cause I have built websites for customers that wanted to have an online e-commerce store.
Ive been messing around with shopify for the last few months and testing it for a client. Its great, it really is, but the 3% cut is not justifiable. My client does $20,000 a month in sales, so thats $600 a month in shopify fees. $600 x 12 months = $7,200 a year assuming my client doesnt grow. Hmm, well my client pays $10/month for hosting with a free shopping cart, and thats about it. So say the development of a decent shopping cart will cost my client around $2,000 (oscommerce as source, with custom plugins, development, etc) they are saving about $5,000 the first year alone.
Hello exponent, I'm also looking for customizable shopping cart. And recently I found Avactis Shopping Cart. As I see from their forums users are satisfied with easy storefront customization. You may explore it also. Rob
You could try Volusion. There are no transaction fees paid to them, just your merchant account you choose.
