I just bought adverts in the Metro and Evening Standard today. They cost £150 total. I've only had 10 visitors so far...
Do you often visit the sites listed in the back of a paper? How visible were the adverts? People reading the paper on average have no interest in your product. A few MAY have an interest but its unlikely. Printed adverts are very good for branding. If you advertise every week people will remember you and if they see your site in the serps or need your products they will visit your site.
FC, although the Standard is a dynamic newspaper I never found it particularly cost effective. CPM conversions were poor compared to other titles. I guess the reason could be that its instant news that's read on the train, then binned. From 20 years of experience the most cost effective press advertising was as follows: 1. Daily Telegraph on Saturday. Upmarket readers. Weekday price for a Sunday style of read. 2. Grauniad. Excellent performing classifieds. 3. NotW magazine. Great for direct response. 12 million readers. However, I've since found pay per click advertising more cost effective than any newspaper.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Looks like I may have just thrown £150 down the drain. Oh well. Live and learn.
Well, you have to say that you have something free on those websites and people will come (talking from experience ) p.l.u.r.
I'm giving away free software. The advert says "FREE POKER SOFTWARE". I was hoping that the word "FREE" would entice them but it hasn't.
Where was your advert? I am London based and was considering an advert for PokerDIY in the Metro, but maybe I wont now- was it amongst other ads?
