Google Analytics is free and gives extensive details on traffic. But unlike Statcounter, Analytics only updates every 24 hours and not in real time.
sitemeter.com is good. but I found some features in statcounter not present in sitemeter ... also its underscores your hits. google analytics and statcounter shows higher hits/// I used to use gostats once... too.
