Anyone submitted in 1000 directories?

Has anyone submitted a link in a lot of directories (before PR update) and this was the only source of backlinks to his site?

What was your PR change on the last PR update?
What was your Google (Yahoo/MSN) position change?

I'm asking to see what potential directory submitting has and if
BLOOP (BackLink Over Optimization Penalty) exists. Bloop theory says something like: if you make a lot backlinks with the same anchor text during a short period of time , Google will penalize your site some way...

Get a 1,000 links at a time is not really a bad thing. It is best if you spread them out just a little. You could get away with building a few thousand a week with google. It seems to me that yahoo and msn are against building links to quickly, google may have the same thing but I am really not sure. Of course if you built something like 100,000 in 3 months then you might have prob with google.

Either way I do not think that it would hurt you to get a 1,000 links from directories in a short time because that is really not that many links.

Exactly that is only a few links :D

One of the leading directories has over a million links so a lot of roads to cross from 1,000 up to a million

And a lot of hard work and input too

plus it all matters on when you launched your directory ... because you can't just depend on one last pr update ... because bunch of people launched directories a bit late or some started doing link building late and didn't get that well of results...

in my experience .. you can submit to directories regularly and get a 4 with internal 3 and one more layer of 2 ... atleast thts wat i got when i was the owner of domaining.in

OK, you all say it doesn't hurt, but does it help? How exactly did it helpy you (PR, SERPs)? I'm not asking about traffic here.

I do submit to directories but I get backlinks in other ways too,so I cannot answer your question.
But I don't think submitting to 1k dirs may hurt your site, they may help your site's PR,SERP anyways.
    I don't agree!
Usually it takes a few months to get your submission approved in all the dirs that you've submitted to.I can't find a reason that they would penalize your site if you get quite a few links in a short period.

Exactly, If you submit to a thousand directories today, You will probably not get accepted to half of them by the next page rank update lol, Directory owners have a life too you know lol.

Yup,but you submit to 1000 paid directories,I guess your submissions will get approved within 24 hours, that may cause a problem .

When did you submitted the site and did you check eventual PR change after PR update?

Was directory submission the only way you promoted your site? When did you launch the site, how old was the domain and how ling did it take you to come under first 10 in MSN/Yahoo ?
