VISTA is crap fullstop. i need a stable version of OS so i use XP SP3 and i can isntall EVERYTHING unlike VISTA dont let me. Although it just looks nice...
I don't use Vista but I don't use XP either. I use FreeBSD on 8 of my boxes plus 1 with Linux. I have no need for Windows except for one old box that does have XP but I only turn it on to test my web sites in Internet Explorer. Then I turn it off again. It has no applications of any kind on it.
Linux is awesome... you have loads of stuff already installed, and software is downloaded, and installed in minutes.
I'm still using using Xp because my own computer CPU is Pentium III and only 512MB RAM Memory so better use Xp.
Vista...I wouldn't mind using XP,as it's a hell of a lot more reliable than Vista, although I'll admit noticing fewer problems over the last year. UAC drives me crazy...but I still use it,imagine a pop-up saying "do you want to run this programme",whenever dreamweaver or other programmes load up... DO you REALLY want to use this programme? ARE YOU SURE?
I can assure you majority of Windows users ares still on XP and it won't change anytime soon. Moreover, I think MS is now counting on Windows 7 as Vista has been very unsuccessful. Yes I have Vista license and I am still using XP and I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon. No need to. Everything works flawlesly in XP, in Vista, I have had problems with drivers plus it was too slow on my PC. In addition, I don't like the new theme. Of course, I am using also Linux (Ubuntu, concretely) and even that is much better than Vista (and definately Compiz looks much better than Aero, plus is much faster).
I think Vista is a waste of money. XP still the best OS after Win98. I wont change to Vista even i get it for free. A wise user will choose performance rather than good looks.
I still use Windows XP Professional. I like it's stability and it doesn't eat much of my computers resources.
Then why are you using Windows at all? Any 'nix/BSD is a better OS than any version of Windows and XP is hardly better than those.
