Anyone still using Macromedia products?

I'm still happily using Macromedia's versions of Dreamweaver and Flash (both version 8, from 2005). Just wondering if anyone else is sticking with 'classic' Macromedia products instead of moving over to the newer bloated Adobe versions?

I love Adobe, but Macromedia were always so much better :)
Anyone else living in the past?

Yup, same here, I am still using Flash 8 because it's much much more stable and much lighter as well.
For AS3 authoring, I use CS3 unless I have to target flash Player 10 then I have no other choice but to use CS4.

I still use Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Never mind to switch to Adobe products. They are all HUUUGE and for nothing. Just have a look at the latest adobe reader for example. it is enormeous... just for nothing. it doesn't do anything else than reading pdfs, the same way as older "slim" versions did. :)

I still have Director MX with me. But I don't use it anymore. Glad that I have a fast computer, running Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop are not a big issue anymore.

I still still use Dreamweaver MX as for now. But I am planning on buying the CS4 Web premium Suite when I can. There are a ton of improvements on the newer versions of dreamweaver, I will just have to get used to it.

Nice to hear that so many of you still use those products.
As for me I usually update my programs as they get out.
I'm more of a BETA guy, if its new I have to try it.

I used Studio MX for years, then found a deal on an MX 2004 upgrade a little while after the Adobe buyout. I like MX04, but the Flash update to 7.2 mentions a license change, and I get the impression it 'phones home' (new home, i.e. Adobe) periodically.

Also, for years Fireworks was underrated. Macromedia never seemed to push it very well. Older versions were like a slimmed-down, faster loading Photoshop, but with features eliminating the need to always load ImageReady to do something web-related. Did Adobe kill Fireworks?

Look at this screenshot of Fireworks CS4!

    http://danthorpe.co.uk/adoScreen.jpg

That feature (align objects with rulers while mouse is clicked and holding object) is probably the best reason to upgrade from Fireworks 8

Dreamweaver CS4 also has many new features such as opening any php includes in files in a sub open documents bar which is very handy for quick editing.

It also checks javascript syntax so you find your errors before you upload and view it in a browser.

I really like CS4 first time it's been worth getting in my opinion.

Great question. For me, I did jump in and go with CS4. I've been lucky enough to always have a machine that could handle everything open at once. And there are a lot more integration features that make it worth ditching the old ones. Adobe bridge for example.

Let me ask this.. I'm still a trooper for old skool methods and I think that's why I hang on to Ulead Smartsaver Pro - lol. Anyone remember that? I still use it to optimize, make animated (gif) banners and slice up images for whatever reason.

    Long live Ulead!
