I really can't believe what I'm seeing here! I figured DP would have < 30% IE users.

I figured that anyone still using IE was just too lazy or too dumb to switch to Firefox.

WOW I am totaly shocked about people praising IE or still using it. Fryman and who ever said layouts render good in IE I am totaly with you on that and Microsoft has majorly improved security with Windows XP SP2 but IE7 will introduce some amazing security features I think Firefox will be left without unless FF developers add them. I watched the new developer tools keynote with Steve Ballmer and he even said that they admited that there were security problems and they were working on them.

    Crazy Rob,

I have Firefox but to me IE is just as secure as Firefox with Windows XP SP2 and that's why I rarely launch Firefox. I am assuming that everyone or almost everyone on here has Windows XP SP2 right guys/gals? hehe

I still use IE. Some time ago I started to use netscape to do online banking, but that too faded now. I use IE all the time.

I haven't used firefox much (just test install and small run), but I will be glad to know if there is any distinctitive benifit of using FF than IE. I have read in news lately that FF is also targeted by hackers and were successful in it.

I might switch to FF someday, but for now I am too comfortable with IE

Yeah there was I think like 2 major security holes in Firefox a while ago. What is all the hype about FF since Windows XP SP2 fixes all most all the darn ActiveX crap. Hype over FF is really nothing.

I don't know about SEO Jeff but I don't work for Microsoft and I feel much the same way. FF is overhyped and clunky, and it's no more secure - in fact, one might argue that it's actually less secure because too many people think that once they switch to FF their security worries are over, which is obviously nonsense. There have been a lot more than two security issues with Firefox in the past year or so and the argument that FF security flaws are fixed more quickly simply doesn't wash - having a patch available doesn't help if people don't apply it and patching FF (so far at least) means downloading and installing a complete new version. There's also no automatic update yet - a little red arrow in the top corner is all there is to alert people and I'd be willing to bet half of the people running FF don't even know it's there.

I think that would be a good definition of Firefox: pure hype

I don't know why some people are so adament about defending their browser. I mean they still put their pants on one leg at a time or something like that.

I do not work for Microsoft. I am a huge fan of Microsoft though and have been using Windows since 3.1 from oh 91 or 92 so there ya go. I am only 20 and live no where near any MS office. I am your normal adsense website maker (non-spam FYI) and programmer.

The dislike of Gates stems purely from jealousy. We can't accept that someone else can get that rich and we can't. Trust me I have these same feeling, but IE isn't that bad. I am an avid user of Firefox but IE when not full of spyware is a great browser.

I agree..dont hate on Gates or IE. I sue IE and it is much bette than Fox and I have used both browsers. Fox has good plugins but IE is much smoother and better layout. Tabbed browsing is overrated.

The only reason that Firefox isn't the same "security nightmare" is because hacker's aren't wasting time making viruses for software nobody uses :D

What's that statement based on? Why is it different now? Do you think that 8% vs. 92% is really any more enticing than 1% vs. 99% to virus makers?

My own ASS UMPTION that exploting IE has more to do with the fact that IE is more easily exploitable, than widely distributed :)
