Anyone see the Top Gear Polar Special?

Top Gear is a motoring show in the UK, which usually tests out all the latest and greatest cars around. They recently did a special show between series, where they pitted a 3 tonne Toyota truck against a dog sled team, to see who could reach the North Pole first. 2 presenters drove the truck (backed up by a couple of icelandic mechanics and a camera crew) and the 3rd presenter travelled with an expert dog sledder.

I just watched the re-run (it was first shown a couple of days ago) on the BBC, and all I can say is wow! Taking a 3 tonne Toyota truck hundreds of miles across ice boulder fields and fjords, and actually making it to the North Pole, was pretty spectacular. Not to mention Richard Hammond's trek to the pole by sled - not bad for a group of middle-aged men! When I saw the truck stuck in that boulder field for almost 3 days, well, it just makes you realise how lucky they were getting the it through it all.

There's a bit of commentary, and some video footage, over on the Top Gear site. It's definitely worth watching, although the full 60 minute documentary gives a far better picture of the whole ordeal (and it was an ordeal).
