Guy Kawasaki has just launched http://truemors.com which is basically Digg is disguise. However, he's not eaten into $millions of Venture Capital... he's just done it with $12,107.09!! It's amazing some of the numbers he talks about, which made me think about how easy it can be on the Internet to build a "hands-free" income which leaves you to either build more passive income streams or simply go and spend the money you earn :-D I've written up his revelations on my Marketing Blog Thanks for reading Ricb
Everyone has their own opinions but it's the fact that he's made such a popular, custom site on that budget. I've seen people wanting millions to do just that. Rich
Let's see if it passes the initial PR releases. Digg has developed a long term strong traffic base. Look at the number of items posted on truemors in the past day, it not exactly an internet hotspot. Alexa graphs (taken with a grain of salt) support this theory as well: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=truemors.com
I launched BlogStorm.co.uk 5 days ago and its had 23,000 unique visitors and hit the digg front page as well as the top of del.icio.us popular (twice). Its also been on TechCrunch & Problogger as well as loads of other sites. The total spend so far: $5 for the domain & $30 for a months hosting. If you want to know full stats after the first week has ended I will be posting them at the weekend at http://www.blogstorm.co.uk/blog.php We are building quite a community already and lots of DP members are reading the blog. I will also be posting in detail about how to launch & market new websites.
Social bookmarking sites are going to be like directories. There's thousands of them, but people only use two or three (if that!)
The thing that you can vote for stories without signing up was the first thing that got my attention. I would like to see where this thing will lead.
Yes, famous people can build popular web sites easily. Unfortunately, I never had much popularity, even amongst my children So the rest of us have to work harder than Guy. wiz
I don't like his new site, ugly as hell, and who needs an other Digg clone at this point?! Think of something original please Mr. Dot com Moguls (luckily he only spent $12,107.09, it was probably better spent throwing it down the drain.)
When google came along there were more search engines than you could shake a schtik at. Don't dis the garage. wiz
But Google came up with something, better, unique and efficient. This is the opposite just a cheap clone of the "king", bringing nothing new to the ball game.
wht u think abt my site then?i have not spent $$$$$ on it. here it is: http://www.newskicks.com thanks,
