From August 2003 through January 2005 I was consistently earning $500-$700 per month from Google AdSense. Then at the beginning of February, my revenue suddenly dropped to about about $200/month and has remained there. This despite the fact that my page impressions have remained steady, click-throughs have remained steady, I haven't made any significant changes to my site's content or the type or positioning of Google ads. And the same kinds of Google ads are appearing on my site as always before. The ONLY thing that's changed is the amount I'm earning per click. So I'm wondering if anyone else has seen a similar change in the past few months?
I think a lot of people saw a large decrease in amount paid per click when google introduced the "smart pricing". I know the end of last month to the middle of this month my amount per click dropped by over 50% across several different sites. Luckily for me since last week they have risen back up and im seeing really good numbers
I am glad, I see an increase in impressions which maintain my income level, so I certainly did not feel the low thing.
drwool, what sort of segments are your sites in? I have some that are gradually fading (like ringtones) but other like web coding sites that are steady. Overall things are growing but I keep adding pages and sites.
I have not seen anything like what you've described. I saw my traffic drop substantially when g penalized my site in the 3Feb update. But since then, my traffic has bounced back and so has my revenue. I'm very, very happy with the results I'm seeing.
