That's a nice mod. You should post it in the phpld mods forum.

Thanks. I was trying to wait to see if someone was going to make it and got tired of putting it off. I have some serious plans for my directory and it's all coming into place now.

Nice directory by the way. Is that the script you made?

Yeah, that's a nice Mod. I'm running the phplinkdirectory script BTW on 2 new dutch sites, linkcity.nl and caravan-camper.nl. I'm figuring out the correct Adsense placement at the moment, I'm quite pleased with the Adsense on linkcity.nl for the moment.

Thought I heard a rumor that Google gets PO'd at sites using this script because of all the calls to check PR.

That ever get resolved? Was it ever true?

I don't think is true of recent versions, but it may have been true of early versions. To my knowledge, there is only one call to check PR, and that is when the link is first added to the directory. I know there was mention of a tool on the phpld forums that would update the PR of sites in the directory, but I haven't looked at it.

If you run "Validate Scripts" on the directory, it also updates PR I believe. For a large directory, this might be seen as abuse by Google. The solution is to not run a validation every day...

I believe David Duval generated a script (not published as yet) which would allow you to validate the directory in chunks to avoid this problem.

It is certainly your choice if you want to display pagerank.
There is a tool availbable for phpLD that you can run LOCALLY on your home PC that will help you update pagerank. But for your own protection, it is probably best not to try to do mass pagerank queries from your webserver.

Yea, I think Google is much more likely to think the PR calls are abuse if they are coming from the same site every day. I think once a week is probably ok, or maybe even check just once a month to be safe.
