my blog receives around 1.5k visitors per day with 2k pageviews, and my current web hosting is lunarpages, however, i got an email saying my site has excessive HTTP requests and my account was suspended. it is surprising as 1.5k visitors per day isn't a big number, also my blog is mainly text only. Based on your experience, do you feel I should use a separate server or a shared server is enough for this traffic? any recommendation of a good host? thanks.
Apparently somebody deleted my post in this thread. If any of the moderators have a problem with providing the information I provided, perhaps they can email me and tell me why? . PM will work fine too. Thanks. Tigergb, as you say, 1500 visitors per day is not a large number for shared hosting, nor is 2000 page views. Those are VERY doable numbers for shared hosting. You are definitely not to the point of needing a VPS or dedicated server with those kinds of numbers. Secondly, I don't know any host (well, I guess I do now) that actually limits HTTP connections. They will normally suspend you for RAM or CPU usage or such, or possibly saturating the connection (which 2000 hits a day would not come anywhere close to doing, on a normal site), but suspending for a certain number of http connections is pretty unheard of in this industry. You might want to ask your hosting company if they can increase that number for you, so long as you are not hammering other resources. I also looked through their AUP and TOS and didn't find anything about http connections. Probably hidden in the fine print somewhere.
Its really disgusting that a host cheating its customers. I have many sites which  is hosted on shared hosting and have much traffic but dont know why this had happened
I was with Lunarpages for years and finally couldn't take them anymore (slow loading & downtimes) and left. I mainly use HostGator today and have had no issues. In your case I don't see how 1.5k visitors a day would cause any issues on a shared hosting account unless maybe you're running a wordpress blog with way to many plugins that are taking up massive amounts of extra resources. I would ask LP for more details about where the usage is coming from.
well, I must say that there are many web hosts suitable for your needs, but not all of them are reliable. Say pinellashosting.com has nice reputation for providing stable hosting services and offering cheap hosting solutions. I have found them to be the best host for support, advice, and pricing out of several hosts I have ever seen before.
@tigergb 2k pageviews is a moderate traffic for any shared hosting user. Not too sure why they suspended your account. You should ask them about the max HTTP requests they allow on their shared hosting (just for your reference) Well, are you looking for UK or US based hosting service provider ?
I have 4 words - Media Temple Grid Service. Â This stuff's rock solid and handles traffic like a champ.
thanks for all your replies, it turns out to be a problem with my add-on script, which causes excessive http requests.Â
based on the web analyzer, my feed.php receives very large requests, in the page I used an add-on recently, that's my guess, I haven't sorted it out completely, will monitor the process.Â
Shopaserver.com is the host you are looking for, excellent price with lots of features. and yes my site gets approx 4K visits per day with no issues at all.
