Anyone recommend software for designing graphics?

I want to add a level of professionalism to my review sites, and if I could design a nice looking title graphic I think that would really help with my credibility. Please no offers of freelance work, I want to learn to do it myself and was wondering what other people used?

CS2 isn't exactly cheap. If you're learning, gimp can be a lower commitment option.

I've used Photoshop for a few years now and although it has a pretty steep learning curve it is the best software for graphic design.

The affiliate should usually provide you with the necessary graphics to use. Otherwise just use photoshop.

You can download photoshop CS2 on a 30 day trial. If not you can pay some kid on DP like a few bucks to whip up something useful.

It's fairly shocking how little some of these guys will do designs for. You might consider that option as well.
