Anyone Received Their 1099 From Yahoo Yet? I'm waiting . . . . . I received my Google 1099 form days ago. Once again, Yahoo is . . . (insert phrase). EDIT: The "Type in the letters thingy" here is the HARDEST to read that I have ever seen! Once, I had to try over and over again. This time, only twice. Ha-ha. Ain't no robot gonna sneak in here!
No, buddy I am new to this forum and I don't know much about this. Could you please throw some light on it.
Nope, i already got my google adsense 1099, but not YPN, i think there's a law with a date set that these company must sent them by, i think no later than Feb 28th. hope it will be here by then.
Hey would you like to describe or some urls to know what are you all talking about i.e. what is 1099? TC
Yes, a 1099 is a "Miscellaneous Income" form that is sent by any company that has paid you money over the previous year. It used to be 3 copies - One to be filed with the IRS, one to be filed with the state, and one for your records. This seems to have changed - Google now sends only 2 - the state and your personal copy. I guess this is because Google most certainly sends the income info to the IRS, so maybe now it is not required that you send one to the IRS. However, you still must REPORT the income on your Form 1040, if your TOTAL income from all sources is over $600. If you don't, the IRS will be all over you. Since they don't know if your total income exceeded the $600, I believe that they send it for whatever sum that they have sent you. Just like interest income, even if it is only $0.63, as I once received. And I got one from Commission Junction 2 years ago for $300. The deadline for sending 1099 forms WAS Jan. 31. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=deadline+for+sending+1099+form Yes. Yahoo has broken the law. And continues to break the law. EDIT: Maybe not. I have read some of the results in the above link, and there seems to be a lot of confusion. There are a number of 1099 forms, and some say that a few of them may now be Feb. 17, 2009. 1099-INT (interest payments from saving, checking accounts) 1099-DIV (dividend payments from stocks, mutual funds 1099-R ...(distributions from retirement plans) 1099-MISC (miscellaneous income, such as we are discussing here) 1099-S ...(proceeds from sale of real estate) 1099-C ...(cancellation of debt) and many more! (compliments of WMW) Here are some sample 1099 forms, compliments of Google Images - http://images.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&q=1099+form Who can keep up? Do you know how many pages there are in the US Income Tax Code? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=number+of+pages+in+income+us+tax+code Looks like anywhere from 26,000 to 77,000, depending upon the source. And we are all expected to get it right. How screwed up is THIS? . .
Well, it's March 14, and STILL no 1099 from Yahoo. I know they can't target for beans, but this is basic business stuff. It looks like I will be adding a note to my tax returns that "Yahoo failed to send me the required 1099 form, so I have no idea what $ figure they may have reported to you. I CAN, however, assure you that the income amount that I have reported from Yahoo is correct."
