anyone place ads in newspapers?

I've been considering placing a small ad in the local papers for several clickbank products I am promoting. Have any of you done this before? Did you get good results or was it money down the drain since newspaper readers aren't targeted for what you're selling?

My thought is that if the paper has high-enough circulation, and the ad is cheap enough, and the product is broad enough, a few sales to cover the ad cost shouldn't be so hard to achieve.

    Thoughts?

I been thinking about doing this but the only thing i could see working would be those get rich quick ebooks and list an ad in the job part of the newspaper. I've heard people get a good return on there money but its a kinda a hit or miss kind of thing.

I wouldn't mind trying it in my area, its kinda un touched and its still a big city.

I tried it once. It was a complete failure. In fact that's where the url of my internet marketing blog comes from moneymakerjobs.com - I hate that url but I wanted something easy to remember to redirect to my CB product... Since obviously when reading a newspaper they can't click on your link :)

But... I just don't really understand "real world" advertising. I've tried radio too, and that was also a failure. Personally I think there's enough opportunities online, I think that offline advertising ends up just being a distraction and it's very hard to find the right way to do it ... and it's also hard to track whether it's working or not.

I've tried it once for one of my clickbank websites. I'm not too sure if I directly made money from it, but my page views did increase.

I think this could work if you had a website with an easy to remember, catchy domain name. Also, your ad should be placed in the newspaper for at least a couple weeks. Not everyone will check your website the first time around when reading it, but the third or fourth time, then maybe.

There is a lot of potential for success. It's all trial and error, just like Adwords... finding/developing the correct newspaper, ad description, and landing page.

Better off with the Text Link Add I had some good luck but be careful with the pay per click. Set a budget and a limit. Check out http://www.textlinksads.com/

I did place an ad once in a local newspaper, I hab just read DJK and decided to take action that same week. I placed one ad and had one sale. I had a $7.00 profit.

I never tried it again. I should do that again soon
