A couple of years back I was writing for a football blog and I remember reading about the need to get a license for writing about Premier League fixtures. I am thinking about starting my own football blog now and I am a bit confused regarding the licenses that I may require...do I require a license for writing the match reports/roundup at the end of each week? What about match previews...and do other leagues require licenses as well?
If you are talking about American Football, you do not need a license to write about Football, however if you are talking about American Soccer, that may be different.
I am talking about European football...especially the 'big five'...England, Germany, France, Spain and Italy
Actually, there used to be a fee for the English and Scottish leagues, but fortunately not any more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_DataCo#Court_Case_Results
Hi there creative, yes you can write freely there is no copyright issue as such and if you look for football forums there are tons already and numerous blogs. Don't worry and keep writing I wish you all the best and let us know when you start might join your blog as I love football.
