My son and I have some Dwarf Hamsters as pets. We just added them to our family about a month ago.I studied up on them a bit before we got them. We had had no problems whatsoever with them until yesterday afternoon when one had -without our knowledge -escaped and then met her untimely death because of one of our 2 cats. Lorraine had never and I mean NEVER bothered them before - even when a few had gotten out of their hamster home. Why out of nowhere now? Then to top it of...My son's favorite hamster out of all of them - Cudlebug - is missing. He is quite a big fellow. We keep hearing scritching sounds that aren't coming from either of the cats. We think Cudlebug is alive but -my question to y'all whom have had experience with them before - Is there anything that helps coax them out? Treats etc? Any particular kinds of hiding places more typical than others? It hurts seeing my son agonizing over his beloved hamsters & over whether Cudlebug is alive still or not. I'm praying for a good outcome - but I can't promise my son that at all which makes this tough. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you from a fellow DP'er Kimberlie aka LadyTigress
I have a hamsters about 3 month before but already give to someone, I also have a lot of cats, so that means is hard to playing around with this hamsters and also need a tidy place and extra money for this pets..
I had a hamster many years ago. Turns out it was pregnant. Then I had several hamsters. Was not very rewarding. They bite, piss, and poop. Thats about it.
My question to you is how do they keep escaping? I remember as a child forgetting the lid on the cage open and my hamster escaping. Anyway, I believe hamsters are nocturnal so probably best to just keep quiet in the evening to see if he/she comes out.
