    hurricane Google strikes again#

I was upgrading my directory and link inventory the other day and checked
    the PR for my data base. All i can say is ouch!:eek: and just for the record;

    (This was a PR9 directory)
    [Current PR]
    ___8__dmoz.org

    (This was a PR8 directory)
    [Current PR]
    ___7_lii.org

    (These where PR6 directories)
    [Current PR]
    ___5__turnpike.net
    ___4__exactseek.com
    ___4__jayde.com
    ___4__netinsert.com
    ___3__somuch.com
    ___2__skoobe.biz

    (These where PR5 directories)
    [Current PR]
    ___3__plentylinks.com
    ___3__wura.co.uk
    ___3__tsection.com
    ___0__liquidn.com
    ___0__dpdough.net
    ___0__submission4u.com

    And thats not all:
    [Current PR]

    ___6__somerandomdude.net (was 8)
    ___7__prchecker.info (was 8)

There are plenty of others to many to mention for now!
It looks like google have lifted the bar for high page rank
So what do all you dp members think?

I don't really think anything. This isn't evidence of any kind of "Google Hurricane" as you put it. I've seen many directories drop in PR before. Likewise I assume many directories have also gone up in PR.

In a nutshell doesn't look like anything drastically different from previous PR updates. Just Google continuing to do what it normally does.

Well yes, a lot of flux in page rank and a lot of saddened faces and only a few smiling:(. Well personally I don't attach much importance to PR as it only carries cosmetic value with no real significance. I was kind of immuned to it.

Many of us feel that Google downgraded many sites by 1 point. But our ranking are still high. So like other have said, PR really doesn't impact our rankings.

some other generic sites non directory based
    [current PR]
    ___6__outdoors.org (was 7)
    ___5__greatoutdoors.com (same)
    ___4__hbcanoekayak.co.uk (was 5)
    ___3__outdoors.ltd.uk (was 5)
    ___3__camping-online.co.uk (was 4)

It seems that google are dropping alot of sites
by a factor of two or more. This pattern can
be seen with 1000's of sites!

"This pattern can be seen with 1000's of sites", ok give me a list of 10,000 sites along with PR before PR update and after.

Only then will your statement hold some evidence. Do not simply state what you think as if it where actually the case.

Or back up your claim by referring me to at least 30 reputable blog posts by different authors that suggest PR has dropped accross the board.

It's really strange to see directories like jayde.com with a PR of just 4.
I wonder if it still makes any sense to submit to directories...
