I noticed an increase in MSN rankings, from non-existent to #2.

How long did you have #3-5?

Same here, I had a site ranked number "3" go to "31" for a good keyword. Traffic has gone from 10k/day to 350/day :(

My top keywords dropped from top 5 to pages 4 and 5... for just about every site and page. This occurred sometime late yesterday afternoon for me.

I noticed that a similar thing happened to some of my competitors.

I don't know what's going on over there.

No one mentioned the facelift on MSN? They probably did some update. My ranking dropped some as well. :(

Facelift? Am I glad to hear that.

After seeing the dimmer page I thought my eyes were just getting worse.

I've seen it happen on MSN where you can be #1 or #2 for a search term, and suddenly drop out of sight for a week to ten days, only to return over another few days to that original position. I don't know if this is normal, but I've seen it twice.

Actually, I also noticed an increase as well - like netmobius, I went from non-existent to #3 for my most competitive keyword.

MSN is now using DMOZ desriptions for some sites that are listed. Would seem to me if they are using descriptions, they may be adding some weight to sites listed with DMOZ and helping rankings.

Perfect example from my industry - search for "diamonds" New #1 site is diamonds dot com. Until yesterday they were never up here, now they show up #1 and the description used for them is their DMOZ description.

Frankly this is very disappointing - yet another search engine giving more power to those corrupt egocentric dmoz editors!

MSN dropped one of my sites for almost all my keywords. They better keep working on this update.

Definitely a big update of some kind. I can't really figure out what's going on from the words I'm tracking - mostly downward movement, but 20-30% of them went up and there doesn't seem to be any pattern based on what kinds of links I was using. Doesn't seem to be anything about the specific sites as a single site will have part of its keywords go up a ton and part drop a ton.

I do like the new look though - much less wasted screen real estate at the top.

Yep I noticed it as well... I kept a few #1's, but dropped many #2's and #3's. Hope this doesn't stick and they continue to tweak this update.

I have around 50 pages I am promoting from home loan all the way to faxless payday loan and about 90% of my pages went downward significantly not just a couple of spots. I looked at the replacements and it seems that it is a drastic change in much of the search engine and that is piss poor because it seems they are looking more and more like the other two wierd enginess more and more.

Lots of the results do look pretty bad to me just searching around. "spyware" is still filled up with clones of the same site. A lot of "widgetswidgetswidgetswidgets.com" sites popping up too. You can also find a lot of searches that are totally taken up by a single site or filled with subdomains. Hopefully it's being rolled out over a couple of days, because if anything it seems more spammy than before.

    Erm just a bit.

I have sent in a few complaints about the websites that have taken the top few places in my keywords.

Check out Contract Hire and Lease hire.

I have dropped from first page to 14th page.

Funny ... after seeing my sites/pages drop from top 5 into oblivion ... along with my earnings and summer vacation plans ... I too checked on that "spyware" keyword.

I don't think any of those clones even budged. How is that possible??

The V7ndotcom elursrebmem for charity site got dropped about 10 spots from MSN today after being in the top 4 for the last month - no significant changes on backlinks or on-page. Google and Yahoo SERP's are basically unchanged.

There does appear to have been a significant update in MSN recently as the number of results had been around 30,000-40,000 or so for a while ... but tripled today to over 100,000 ... at least according to MSN - Google and Yahoo are showing about 30 times those numbers - historical V-E data is here - this is magnified for the SEO contest since a lotta content has been recently generated, but I bet a closer examination for other keyphrases in MSN would show similar behavior.
