Noticed a drop at dir.yahoo.com along with some other country specific yahoo directories. I mostly noticed because one of my sites dropped like a rock and it was mostly getting its support from yahoo.

    dir.yahoo.com 8 to 7
    ca.dir.yahoo.com 6 to 5
The category in question 7 to 4
    ca.dir.yahoo.com/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Issues/Privacy/

if yahoo just wait and watch, google will surely make it a PR0 someday, may be it's time that yahoo creates some kind of PR alternative:rolleyes:

Yes it's PR7 with inner categories PR 5-6, so a drop is there!

Google is envy of people making money from directories. When buyer and seller of links dont have any problem why google interfare? Google says webmasters can increase their search engine rankings by getting links from high quality sites. Where are the high quality sites to get link from? Nobody give links for free, even business.com, yahoo directory and botw.org and dmoz as you know though free but almonst impossible. So when you buy links google penalize sites and without buying links sites dont come higher and dont get good pr. When a site dont have good pr deeper pages goes into supplemental results. There is no use of a directory if it doesnt have pr5 or pr6 .Only high page rank sites are deeply crawled and sites getting links from deeper categories from such directories are benefitted. People buying links from pr3 or pr4 will never get any benefit unless they get link from top level categories. I have a advice forget google and online business and do some offline job as there are no ways left to make money online. You can make money only by spam as there is no legal way left now.

76% pages in yahoo directory are already in supplemental results and now when page rank lowered to 7 more pages will go into supplemental results and as a result many more business websites ranking will be affected. Google dont realize this. People are spending $300 to get a link from yahoo directory and still they are not benefitted. Yahoo is a better search engine.

Its quite right when a site get a link from another site which is not related to it anyway, gives irrelevant results in google search results. But if you are buying a link from a page which is relevant to your site that should not be a problem for google. Like business.com is selling links for $200 in relevant categories and its not affected and doing great job to improve search engine results. If a directory owner dont buy links from another directories, how will it get good page rank? Without getting good page rank there will be no deeper crawling to benefit sites having links in deeper categories. All these things clearly shows google is envy and why it doesnt penalize business.com who is charging $200 for a link.

Yahoo does (or did) have a poor solution. Is is (or was) called Web Rank. Here is a link to an article from Danny Sullivan in 2004. I wish this worked better because I am also a little sick of Google's dominance with PR (Ask.com also has their Expert Rank, but it is not a real competitor at this time).

    Hey, Yahoo's homepage also came down from a 10 to a 9.

I think all across the board, many, many sites saw a slight drop.

May be its a temporary shake. There's a hot buzz that Google is making changes to its PR algo.
