    Hi,

    Fro sometime now i my main onpage seo technique has been to have lots of content that changes on a daily basis.
    So for example my site would have a number of paragraphs with static content about the company and then i would have a number of other paragraphs that changed on a daily basis.
    static v changing content was about 50/50 on the site.

    I started off with the same site on 2 domains (.com and .net)
    Did the usual by submitting to dirictories etc.
    .com = pr6
    .net = pr4
    (i put more effort into the .com)

    When i realised that i could have both sites removed due to duplicate content/sites i removed the .net and just placed a holding page there asking any visitors to view the main .com site and change any bookmarks from .net to the .com
    I also didn't want to waste the pr4 on the .net.

    This happened maybe 5 months ago now.

    My .com has ranked very well on some popular key words in google at the top end of page 1
    Last month saw my site drop to page 2 and then on the google roll back found myself back in top of page 1.
    Since the roll back google has run the full update and my site is now at the bottom of page 1.

    The strange this is that i have noticed that alot of NEW players in the market have jumped above me but when i inspect there sites they have very little content on them.?
    I have also noticed my old .net site that still has a pr4 but only a single static page has now jumped up in google and yahoo?

    So why is my main site dropping with all the new fresh data on it but my old site with nothing other then a 'we have moved' page jumped up?

    My idea is that google are now taking minimal notice of on-page seo and a combination of links/pr/and onpage will move you up.

    Anyone noticed anything like this.?:eek:

    On page SEO is still a major factor. Did you 301 the .net to the .com?

    no ...
    i placed so 'on topic' text on the page with the message to say we have moved to a new domain.
    Just a simple 'click here' link to the .com

    Just seems so odd ... why am i seeing sites jump over mine AND MORE TO THE POINT why am i seeing the .net that has a little bit of text on it and NO on/off seo on it for over 6 months ... why is this rising?
    The change in google algo in the past month has something to do with this ...

    The .net could be rising because it's getting older in comparison to other listings. Assuming you want to use the .com, I would 301 all pages (including the homepage) to the .com.

    Just because a site is new doesn't mean Google won't rank it quickly. If they (the other site owners) are buying links, producing quality content, and doing more on / off page SEO then they could very well rank higher than you.
