Earnings will go up and down .. even for established sites that are not MFA .. sometimes a new advertiser will come in and boost earnings .. sometimes steady advertisers will be at the end of a buy cycle .. go with the flow, be like water .. save yourself the stress ..
My earings have been down for the past couple of weeks too. I had a terrible day on Wednesday, almost down by 50%. I've been frantically working on adding new original content to hopefully bring in more visitors. I was wondering if in my case it was due to ad blindness, to change the ad colours on my site would be a nightmare as I have so many pages. Am just hoping it's a temporary gliltch & with the help of new content things will pick up once the articles are indexed with the search engines. I guess to me it's been a lesson, keep working hard, adding content. Don't take Adsense for granted & do expect some troughs in your earnings. For me it's just made me work so much harder. Today is shaping up to be okay, I'm already at 75% of my "average" earnings with 5 hours to go.
KingSEO: I just wanted to say, that while my revenue is down I can absolutely state without hesitation that my site is not made for adsense or spam!
None of my sites are MFA either - I think the hit could be something to do with me adding around 10 sites to Adsense over the last few weeks. The sites added and a couple of years old, but perhaps google is putting some kind of filter in for a while to see how these new sites perform. I guess it could be a safeguard to prevent people adding MFA sites up... who knows!
Use different channels to help adsense separate the different topics. Also, remember smart pricing / whatever it is is kinda slow, one week can be worse than another. It's natural. Learn to live/deal with it.
I'm seeing the same thing. In the last 4-5 days adsense income is down around 50%. Traffic on these sites is actually up and I have added a few new sites. This sucks!!!
My earning have dropped about 75% in the last 3 weeks... It has been outrageous. I have no idea what is going on. I'm trying to sign up for other advertiser networks such as YPN or Fastclick but have still not been able to get invited or approved.
I've had no problem getting approved for YPN but I don't use it (yet). I plot my earnings over time (only been monetizing since December). Here's my graph (removed totals to stay within TOS): (Red = Real Income, Purple = Daily average of previous 30 days) As you can see, my sites wax and wane fairly consistently, but they are trending up without me doing any real marketing. I am consistently first or second in many common google and MSN searches, again without doing any link sharing or marketing (other than 1 or 2 simple directories). Time, time, time, time, time. More time. It'll get there.
im down about 50% for the past 3 days.. and number of impressions decreased.. my traffic has not decreased too much so I'm getting a lot of PSA's... NOT happy either.. looking for ways to fill the extra space..
You guys have been around a lot longer than I have, but is it possible that it's cyclical with the seasons. I mean, more people are outside this time of year and not setting in front of a computer. Businesses know this, so they lower their advertising costs for contextual advertisements. Just an idea, but as mentioned go with teh flow, it'll return. And switching to Yahoo publisher probably isn't the answer either, I saw a post reporting that their earnings had dropped a lot recently as well.
That is a good point about the PSA's. I have noticed the same thing about traffic and impressions. Traffic is the same but impressions is down. I forgot about the PSA's. Is there something we can do to replace the PSA's with actual ads? If anybody has an answer please post here or PM me. Thanks
AdSense allows you to replace PSAs with black space or your own ads. I do this on most of my sites but remember you can't replace them with contextual ads since it could be that one ad unit shows PSAs (other ad) and one shows AdSense. I make my replacement ads advertise my other websites or my forum. It seems to work fairly well (my forums CTR is way up now, too).
