I have recently (last week or so) notice that my EPC (Earnings Per Click) has dropped considarably...anyone notice anything similar?
Mines dropped now more than 60% Noticed one common thread. The lower my ranking has gone in Google the lower it has gotten. With this new flux, not in the top 1000 in half the data centers for my primary KW's at position 400 was around 50% and most was at position 140 Found this an interestering relationship for my site, but not sure that it is actually related. Cheers
My rankings are the best they have been in 5 years right now. So I don't think that rankings effect your (EPC) earnings. I am a subscriber to adwords and know precisely what I pay for a click. It seems to me that G has lowered the amount they are now sharing. I base this opinion on administration to 20+ accounts. This reduction in EPC is right across the board.
I wonder if this is reflective of a migration by advertisers away from G? Curious. Maybe they are bumping the higher impression/ctr % sites (as in multi million impressions sites) Who knows. my CTR is natural double digit and was doing good up until the end of last month. Seeing wild fluxuations on two mortgage sites. One day low single digit CPM to triple digits CPM (No, these mortgage sites are not high impression sites and are niche specific to highly targeted searchers) Just checked my bigges site - NEVER seen it this low - CPM at mid single digits...not worth running the adv. Vs. impression Vs. CTR - make more running lending tree affiliates at this rate. Ahh well...G better get it together. They keep squeezing my balls I'm gonna have to build more sites...lol
I've had exactly the opposite experience this last week. I have a relatively low CTR on my main site but have made more money per click. On my internet filtering blog the value per click has risen slightly on rrelatively low volume. Strange but OK
no significant changes here. i also dont believe that google ranking affects one's EPC (unless proven).
It seems on the weekend my EPC has gone up to 10% higher that my regular weekend EPC. gchaney I think you're right. I have been reading many articles recently about fraudelent AS clicks. This is definately getting back to the AW advertisers (myself included). This would be the result for AS publishers.
Mine was down for awhile, and i did some tweaking on the main page, and took off one of the ad blocks, and today's epc is higher. Can't say for sure it's related, but hey.
I think you are right, Homer. There is no other way i can explain my drop in earnings while clicks are rising.
