Anyone not been able to get a site unbanned?

I've posted about this before, but I've had no luck in getting one of my sites unbanned from Google. I've filled out 2 re-inclusion requests, both times they were descriptive, and explained the situation, but to no avail!

The story is this. Back in December I had started a new site. It had very little content, but it also had Adsense. The Adsense was probably a mistake (I won't put ads on a site until it's actually a useful site to users), but I know that now. The way I normally work is I throw up a site every once in a while, and then gradually (depending on whatever is happening) work on them. I have about 8 sites I run with 2 friends, and we usually focus on a certain site until we consider it done. The good thing about throwing up a site every once in a while is if you eventually lose motivation with one site, you can just move on.

So when I started the site, I also decided to do a free Wordpress theme for it, and put it on themes.wordpress.net. At that point, it kinda went crazy, and the theme was downloaded thousands of times in a short space of time. This of course meant the site has suddenly found tens of thousands of backlinks, all within the space of a month. I thought "wow, that's pretty cool!". That was until early January when the site disappeared completely from the Google index, and hasn't returned.

Now I don't care if the site ranks well for anything (at least until it becomes somewhat useful), but I do find it frustrating that it's been penalised pretty harshly for no good reason.

Has anyone had problems getting a site unbanned, especially if there was no reason (as far as I know) for the penalty? Is there some sort of secret goole handshake for getting a site unbanned?

I don't think getting thousands of backlinks suddenly can get your site banned. There has to be some other reason. You have to find that reason (copied content, black hat practices etc.)
Thousands of sudden backlinks may put your site in sandbox but it cannot be banned for that reason, else I would ban all my competitors in a single day.

I would wait a little while, maybe the thousands of backlinks just need to balance out over time. Its hard to say what to do since they are ignoring your e-mails.

    Has anyone responded to you?
