I was wondering if anyone worked with larger companies or ever had to manage thousands of keywords for an industry. I want to know what the differences are between managing more small-scale campaigns, and are there any differences?
I would think, even for larger companies with an authority site, there wouldn't be thousands of keywords to manage. There are only so many that relate to one niche, and only so many that actually bring visitors, and only so many that actually convert. That's the key: testing. Big business have this down. They know which keywords actually convert, so these are the ones they focus on. The other couple thousand are just gravy
True, but how does one manage all of those. That's what I am wondering. I take there's softwares though, since they're larger. I also mean, not just managing but also optimizing for this amount of keywords.
The trick is you new focus on thousands of keywords at once. Simply because they couldn't afford it. Best thing to do is create powerful site structure and control the flow of the link juice. This way you create links to one "parent" page and also boost rankings of its "child" pages at the same time.
Hi! Can you explain that structure a bit more? I.e. Is it the same way you would optimize for a small company but just with more keyword variations that are closely themed around the specific page that needs optimizing??
It is called siloing or theming of a website. If you wanna know more about it here is a great resource: bruceclay.com/seo/silo.htm Let me know if you have any questions. (regarding siloing ) Big Love, Tibor
