Hi, Just wanted to know if anyone here earned money with a Pligg based site. I would surely like a little details like how you monetized it and was the earning decent enuf or just peanuts?
If you have traffic - and you chose a good niche, you can definitly make money via Google. But for getting traffic, you need users posting articles/news. for users - you need advertising or PR - and it is hard work or hard money >)
I run 1 pligg site last years. This earn me around $0.50/day from adsense. Not including the side income from member that join premium status that pay according to the plan such as $100/month for unlimited posting. Other than premium membership,i also have sell some rotated banner ads at $200/month. But due to hosting issue,i sell the site for few thousand.
I was always under the impression that if you want something to be successful, you would need a custom script/solution. Pligg is too slow and buggy, I haven't seen one major site that runs default pligg software (without heavy customization).
Pligg is just good for the specific niche like web design, blogging tips, shopping etc. A eye-catching template is also very important for standing out the crowd.
I had contemplated starting a pligg site, I think in order for it to be effective you really need to target a niche.
