There are some posts in the Amazon forum about guys making a few grants per Q but everyone sais the same... I make x times more in AdSense :)

I did a pretty decent job in Q4 2005. Now let's see what AdSense has for me :)

You know, I make so little with Amazon that I'm giving serious thought to removing it entirely. I think that Amazon search box and link just makes my site look like everyone else's site and thus cheap. $100/quarter just doesn't seem worth linking to them anymore...

Maybe a text link here and there for related items or a custom image as link...

I find that Amazon is still a great source for free content (especially photos) and new product information.

I use them this way also, getting relevant photos for articles linked to an amazon product.

Do you copy images on your server or hotlink to Amazon images server?

I am thinking of things one must do to hide trail to Amazon and escape Google penalty for being thin affiliate.
Also is it worth to hide outgoing links to Amazon by using some kind of redirects.
    Any expirience on this?

Don't be a bandwidth thief. Save the images to your server. And what makes you think Google penalizes people for being an Amazon affiliate?

Amazon allows building image only affiliate links with their tool. So it would hardly be theft. If that image is on a page with original content I doubt google would see it as a thin affiliate.

    Amazon allows either option.

Cool. One more way to "uniquify" things. I rename, resize, and host images from other merchants, but hadn't considered it with Amazon for some reason.

OT: Just noticed the Jefferson quote. Are you a fellow libertarian? Funny how people think we are a democracy...

The biggest problem with Amazon sites is that all the content is the same and they get wacked by Google for duplicate content. You have to find a niche, but the best niches sell third party products, and Amazon's support for some third party items and pricing is pretty poor.

Good observation, jazzylee. A democracy is one person, one vote and the majority rules. In the US, we live in a representative republic where we elect officials to vote for us when it comes to passing laws and making policy changes. We sometimes make an attempt at democracy, such as the recently passed proposition 200 in Arizona (California passed a similar proposition a few years ago), which denies some government benefits to people who are in this country illegally. But the wishes of the people are frequently ignored, as is the case in Arizona where the politicians do not support the referendum and therefore ignore the will of the majority.

I'm so happy with Amazon, I opened 4 more stores this week.

If no one is going to give me a million, I'll make it a penny at a time. ;)

Do I make big bucks from Amazon? No. For the last 2 quarters, I did get checks of over $1,000 though. Came out to about $350 per month. Not bad but not great.

So far I've made nothing from amazon! Got a few links on my site to related products but not a thing yet!

This quarter I've got over 108 products shipped. Not horrible considering I'm relatively new to the amazon program.

Maybe it's dependent on audience, or the types of products we're promoting? If you're selling DVDs or music, then the percentages are going to be smaller, but if you're selling high-value stuff like TVs and larger electronics maybe the return is better.

I'm mostly promoting DVD/CD on my reality TV blog, but no-one's biting!
