I'm considering affiliate marketing on my upcomming blog after reading this, and was wondering if anyone's had any luck at it? Check it out! Should I stick to Adsense or give this a shot?
You should at least try it, it really just depends on your traffic and matching an offer that works for that traffic. I personally haven't had the best luck with banners on an organic traffic site, but I am doing pretty good with ppc to affiliate stuff.
I have had good luck. Started out with no experience and made over $10,000 the first year and this is in my spare time while I work a full time job. Now I am just slowly building more and more sites and traffic. Check out my programs they are very marketable on blogs!
Yes! I have been an affiliate marketer for 5 years and make a decent living at it. If you are new to affiliate marketing, you will not succeed unless you know what you are doing. It's more than just putting banners on your site...a lot more. Jim
We do a fair amount of affiliate marketing and make good money. Like Jim Guinn said, you have to know what you are doing. I would like to add that you gotta be tenacious as a bulldog, creative, hardworking and be ready to push the envelope. Oh yeah, and did I mention hardwork? One thing I would recommend is: avoid signing up for "everything and anything". That's the sure road to "nothing". Identify a niche, be a topdog in that niche (or completely drop it) and then move on to a new niche. Hope that helps...
Affiliate marketing is more rewarding than adsense. Become an affiliate, we will be happy to help you.
You will never know how well you can do with it until you try it. So try and keep what works best for you.
That is true, site, which makes $5 per day from adsense, can make with the right affiliate also $50. So, you must just try and test.
My ramblings as an "old timer"..... If you are new, do you understand fully what an affiliate marketer does? Do you know how to focus, take action and presell?...just to name a few skills? Do you know the difference between PPL, PPC, PPS, Two-Tiered Affiliate programs and Residual Income programs? Do you know what to look out for in picking networks, network programs, and independent programs....and the pros and cons of each? Do you know how to build an affiliate site that will be successful, not only the look, but the content? Do you have a plan for getting traffic? Who are you modeling yourself after? I don't mean to be harsh, but I am getting so concerned about those that "rush" into affilitate marketing. They are the ones to fall for the scam sites, scam deals, and scam replications, and they NEVER succeed. It is a shame that this has to happen. So, if you can answer these questions I have posed above, I will be glad to do whatever I can, within the scope of my resources, to answer your questions. Please be easy on me. As I said these are my ramblings as an "old timer"..... Jim
I'm always astonished to find folks who would think that affiliate marketing is easy, just because perhaps one can "work at home" or they are buying into what a lot of self-proclaimed gurus state. It's an industry, just like any other industry. Would you be successful at being an auto-mechanic by just showing up at the shop and saying you want to get into fixing cars? Would you be successful at stock trading without some knowledge of business, finance, etc.? Yes, a descent profit can definitely be make with affiliate programs, but it takes time to learn the business, learn the best practices, and "perfect your craft." Read and learn (forums, blogs, etc.) Start out slow and experiment. Above all be patient, with effort and persistence, the profits will come.
Haha the biggest thing I would recommend is to dive right into it lol. I mean I know alot of people say to learn stuff first and maybe its just me, but I learned really fast when I was losing 100 dollars a day...and I mean real fast! When I first started I was bidding 1.00 on keywords (per click) and the payout was only 10 - 12) Now while you can bid high on keywords that convert really well for your niche like for example if your doing ringtones and the keyword buy ringtones would convert really well. I lost alot of money in the beginning, but it taught me to learn really quick how not to lose money. I don't care what you read, when you first start ppc and affiliate programs you will probably lose money. I know there are exceptions, so please don't post saying well I madee 500 profit my first day. Cause well I really don't care... My advice is to yes learn the stuff but also don't be afraid to try it. If you lose some money, don't quit, instead learn from that, and you will get it. Affiliate marketing and ppc really isn't that hard.
I agree that while it is a good idea to take some time to really read and understand what *some* people are saying in forums/blogs etc, a whole lot of knowledge can be gained by applying the basics, and giving it a go (with a monthly limit on your PPC spend!). It's possible to gain quite a lot of know-how with a low initial spend, as long as you're not diving straight into the crazily competitive affiliate niches.
Like Peaches said, learning by doing is not a bad idea at all. Losing some money for your experience. It 's worth trying.
