Anyone make a living with selling wordpress themes?

I agree with most others. Themeforest is good. I used to try to sell stuff on my own, and although you may get a few more bucks per sale, sites like Themeforest get so much traffic that the number of sales will more than make up for less money per customer.

 

I used to sell azontheme but it is not many people buy it, so I'm thinking about adsense market should be better to focus.

Though one of my friend selling the business theme on the themeforest and he's making like $20k per month, it took him about 2 years to success.

 

I think design talent is only half the story.
You also need to be good at marketing your work, whatever you are doing.

So combine design talent + marketing talent, and you're on to something.
Also, I'd be in favor of not putting all your eggs in the same basket.
start a WP-plugins business, but when that's rolling, think of another revenue stream too,
but without loosing too much of your focus on too many directions.

Try to find an unfilled niche with starving users, which is basic marketing...
