I'm after changing the top logo on my site for something that looks better and quicker downloads.

The site is Costa and Sierra a real estate business in Spain dealing with properties in on the coastal and in the mountain regions.

At the moment all I have is two photo's with the words Costa & Sierra added. Site

Also I'll be running a Spanish site and this translates to Costa y Sierra.

I'm willing to offer a link from both sites and also from another of my sites.

    Thank in advance.

Yup Im a bit confused here too! If it is a logo you want designing then I recommend www.eagleimagery.co.uk. The designer is Mark, and has done a great job on our logo (the avatar) and our website headers.

The pictures in your topheader are scaled wrong and the usage of verdana doesn't looks a bit out of time. for inspiration check templatemonster.com/logo-templates.php

Sorry if I confused you all...Yes I'm after someone to make a logo for me.

Yep I know the pic isn't scaled correct...hence needing a little assistance for something better.

Is this going to be a competition? I'll give it a shot, but this is not my forte'.

But I love Photoshop and I relish the opportunity to learn or play with it.

Here's a banner experiment...or did you only want a logo?

Either way, IDK, it's just fun to make these.

I can't comment on prices, because each logo will be different, but I have never been disappointed, he meets deadlines, has loads of patience and is a great graphic designer! The logos also come in six million different formats, ie. pdf, gif, jpeg .. you name it lol

I had someone drop me a pm with the following advice and I think it may well come in useful for others.....

    Some basic logo design advice:

    1. Logo should be made using Scalable vector graphics, not pixel based - So Photoshop is out and Illustrator should be in - Logos need to be able to fit on a pen or stretch to the size of a bus. With photoshop you can not 'size up' as the picture will get blocky (pixelated). Illustrator images can be made the exact size and imported into Photoshop.

    2. (Modern) Logos should be as clear and simple as possible, whilst still maintaining their uniqueness.

    3. Logo should work in any colour, background etc - etched on glass, Letterheads etc..

    4. Visually, Logos these days are usually a word (maybe 2 or 3) with a 'twist' Gone are the days when you have a Logo (or trademark) and a Company name.. these are usually combined.
For examples of new brands with a 'twist' - try Accenture, Gucci, Walmart, Yahoo, infact anyone of note..

    5. No major logo has an bearing on the products in sells.. other than some kind of subtle referencing.
Nokia, Adobe, MSN, Google, BMW, Coca Cola, Malboro.. They dont contain Mobile Phones, cars or cigarettes in their logos..

See how people remember logos: http://www.monochrom.at/markenzeichnen/

The importance of a good logo design ...

First, picture this: a royal blue triangle with a circle inside of it. If you think of this for a minute you can probably recall what company uses this logo to brand itself. If you thought of America Online, you were right.

A great logo can make or break a business. Little kids as young as the age of one recognize McDonalds when you drive it, not because they read it on the sign, but because they remember the logo. As for older people our minds are clogged with many other things and a great logo will always be remembered if created properly.

The creation process is always unique and a great logo is usually defined as "I know it when I see it." Which is true, because if its great, you will have an extreme emotional change. Whether it is excited, shocked, astonished, flattered, etc. Something that will make you go to the extreme will make you remember that wonderful logo.

Even though McDonalds is a large company, and spends millions in advertisement, smaller companies logos do have a big impact also. Ultimately, the logo makes the sale by speaking for the company when there is no sales representative present. It delivers the message to the public that a company is unique, reputable, and dependable.
