Even if you would live of adsense, it still remains a big risk. I mean it isn't rock solid like an e-commerce shop or an affiliate program you are promoting. If Google closes your account, you're out and you won't be able to pay your bills at the end of the month So even IF you would be able to live of adsense, i'd think twice before i say my boss goodbye. If you are living off Adsense, hopefully you are not taking advantage of the system where you would be at risk of getting booted... =) There are other contextual ad programs out there that pay decent (YPN, Kontera, etc). So Adsense is not the unstable aspect of working from home... it is sustaining your site and traffic levels. If you have traffic... you can find ways to make money. But keeping that traffic in an ever-changing internet landscape is not very easy or stable.
I definately recommend people to find more ways to make money then solely rely on adsense alone. If you have enough traffic to make 2k a month.. then you should sell some links.. products... or watever... to make sure you can live OFF without adsense alone
I always think of adsense as the cherry on the cake of web income. A nice little reward, but not a main income stream. Others with disagree, but then you get into arbitrage and the whole adwords > adsense world.
Yes. A lot of people do. Very few who really do will actually admit it, though. They have no interest in selling e-books or their name, they just run a quality site(s) that generate a lot of traffic and backlinks due to exceptional content and AdSense loves those. Not necessarily true. Some publishers prefer AdSense for simplicity of operation. They understand that Google takes a hefty cut, but the expence of running personal staff responsible for maintaining your own advertiser crowd for your site might become more expencive than sharing ad revenue with Google. After all AdSense is very manageable by one person no matter the size(scope) of the site.
Yah.. Living on Adsense ONLY would be very risky.. By diversifying, it's more than possible to live off your total website-earnings.. If you have the traffic, you have the potential.. (i havnt quit my day-job.... YET) ... .
I can live of my adsense earnings but you'll find most people who earn a good adsense income probably have other sources naturally like subscriptions, e-sales & affiliate income.
Define "living" .. hehe I know a few people that have left their "day jobs" to try to double adsense incomes. i too left my day job back in 2004.. however adsense was not the motivator..
how's it worked out for the people you know? and for you, even though you didnt leave because of Adsense, is it supporting you now?
I want to move out of Austria. Its very hard for EU publishers to earn decent money via adsense. To life from Adsense you'd have to earn about 1700USD/month, thats about 1300 euros. the usualy montlhy income here to enjoy a normal living. I'd love to move out to a different country anway. Any suggestions? 300USd and a decent live on the phillipines.. sound nice. anyone here from south africa?. if i could life off 800USD a month there, a one way ticket would be booked in no time.
I guess it is possible to live off adsense but I think a lot of people claim to make more than they do. I have seen people claim to make upward of $6000 plus a month, but they would have to be turning some major traffic to make that. I am curious how many honest people are making a living off adsense? Seems to me to turn that much traffic, you would have to have a very unique web site/sites.
