Some plan that would be, I'm still trying to figure who the 'Partners' are? I just can't put my finger on who exactly "Sample Text Here" is. I agree with what compostannie said. Could it all be a sham and dmoz will never come back? Sure, but I have no reason to believe that. All indications I have seen show that there is progress being made and hopefully things will return sooner than later. What sponsor are you referring to, AOL? Why would AOL want it removed anyway? After all everyone that would complain about it, already knows they own it so pulling the logo off wouldn't prove anything. If links were lost, they could be recovered from the RDF Dumps and there is no indication that is an issue.
Is Nike or JC Penney sponsoring the ODP or are there other sponsors you know that is hidden and just goes to the personal bank accounts ? Nice question. After all these days that DMOZ has been down, I just wonder why ? I'm just a small business man compared to AOL or Nike or maybe even Microsoft. Comparably just a dust of their power and wealth. One thing is, if I am a sponsor of a special project I would certainly make sure that all things are working properly. I would certainly have some people to announce that my small project is not working well. It reflects on the company's name. It's not hard to do. I can even issue pamphlets that I can let people know about the inconvenience. That's me from a small business point of view. But when you have a media you don't drop something just like that. You announce it. in their website or news or blog. That one of our SMALL SPONSORED PROJECT has been having TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY at the moment. You just don't keep quiet and let the small boys handle this. It's a way of saying I JUST DONT GIVE A >>>> anymore. As a small consumer how will I get AOL service when technical difficulty comes and you don't give a squat on your projects how would they deliver good service to us. Where is the love, baby ? It will prove something. Either its dying a natural death or being sold undisclosedly. Whatever floats your boat my friend.
DMOZ is kinda like Wikipedia with everything removed except external links. AOL should just turn DMOZ over to the people behind Wikipedia, IMHO.
Good lord no, don't give more things over to the people behind Wikipedia, the power's gone to their heads enough as it is.
