It's been down for over a month now, with no information to editors at all - not even on the DMOZ blog. I think you should build your own directory, on your own subject on your own site. That's the only place where you will know your work will actually have a future. [Too bad, I did learn an awful lot in the ODP]

Actually, the statement that editors have received no information is incorrect. We know what is going on, just not when we will be able to edit again. If we have an ODP Blog, I have never heard of it. All discussion between editors is held in our own forum.

http://dmoz.theblob.org/dmoz/journal.cgi I subscribed to it very recently - and right now it's down.
I'm really too busy to check up on forums, so I was hoping that blog would do the trick. I guess I was wrong [just looked at the internal forums and see they are quite busy. heartening to see, though I'm not sure they will get me back to editing once the ODP is up again]

    Hi, kh7

I think it's more than 2 months...I tried to put one of my site there since October, and till now it's still down.

Maybe DMOZ is planning on something (?)..

Down since Okt 20th according to the ODP forums. They are busy with the underlying software and the servers. Also they are using this time to discuss the future of the ODP with editors. Search function will probably improve at some point next year, though the focus right now is on simply getting things working again.

Does it really matter if Dmoz is down? I didn't think anyone used it anymore.

Yeah. Sure. Trusted links like porns. See Nederlands Prostitution Status.

You people never learn. And your proud of that to announce.

    So arrogantly arrogant.

The directory is still up! So whatever traffic it generates is not halted. It is only the editing side that is down.

Uh-oh. This might be a great opportunity to endorse a Plan for DMOZ. :D

We have been assured that DMOZ will be back. From what I've seen, I have no reason at all to doubt that. :)

I bet ya a 100% its not as mighty as it used to be. " IF " it comes back.

The sign from the sponsor will disappear.
It will be run by DMOZ inner circle.
Lot of links had been lost.
Editor application will re-start from scratch.

Maybe all of you need to re-apply again.

    Just my 0.2

Nah it ain't worth as it used to be big sister. The NEW Project is much BETTER.

Well, since editors can still login to the forums, they have not lost the editor information - so it's unlikely they have to start from scratch.
