I only see the one banner ad at the bottom right hand corner. Is that they only way they monetize this site?
I guess they are building a pretty nice mailing list also if everyone has to open an account to post.
It is like a social bookmarking, I think. If you want to build a simillar site try to use joomla, and install the JoomSocial component. I'm not sure, but I think you will get the same results.

check mysecretpost.com - it's an fmyscript product, but I made several modifications to make it seem a little less plain. I've tried a couple of scripts out there but fmyscript seems to be the most stable and having a decent amount of features. It's a little tricky to work with though if you're not too familiar with coding.
