I just want to ask you, Anyone knows how to reset admin password in Windows Xp SP2. I forget the admin password and I can't login. Luckily, I already backup all files in there, So if you can't help me solve this problem, I need to format it.
Well, I've always had a hidden admin accounts which only comes up when I press Alt+Ctrl+Del (twice) so that I can type in the admin account name manually. But anyways, I haven't ever had that happen to me but here is what I found on google: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=305 http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_passwords.htm Hope that helps

There is no admin reser password if you can't log in to your machine. That is one of Microsoft's security features. Even is someone re-installs the Os it still would ask for the password. You're better of formatting the drive. Sorry tough luck.
You can do it as Kunalbhatia said.Alt+Ctrl+Del (twice), type administrator on the upper level and press OK. If the admin pass is required yet, so use boot cd to reset the pass (hiren boot cd, matrix cd). But if You manage to login, then go to comp. manage and reset the admin pass.
Boot into safe mode - username administrator and the password is blank - as in nothing. XP comes with a hidden administrator account that is only accessible through safemode, or by going to start - run - control userpasswords2. The "control userpasswords2" command from the run box opens a hidden user administration interface. Any XP computer you can sit down at, you can take control of. That is unless the password for the hidden administrator account has been changed. When you install XP, it prompts you to create an administrator account - but you get to name that account. Such as "Billy" and billy is an administrator. But what the install script does not tell you, is that a second account was setup. And that second account is really named administrator. Microsoft added this hidden account because so many people were locking their selves out of their windows 2000 and NT4 computers.
~kev~ is right, there is a hidden administrator account that is only accessible only in safemode unless otherwise the password is set during the installation process.
I wonder why nobody mentioned this great and free open source tool called Offline NT Password & Registry Editor: http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ Use that and you'll be fine It saved mine and other people's asses many times
