Anyone know where Chris disappeared did he quit too ?

Why has he stopped promoting his directories??? Did he go bankrupt???

I been wondering if anybody was ever going to mention that alot of the top DPers where gone. I hope they come back soon!

 

I doubt thats going to happen , once u quit u quit, its like quitting smoking, u do not want to go back to it again as you know how hard quitting was .

 

I visit DP less frequently than before. Directory business seems going down. I hope one day the glory would come back

actually when i read your post, the thought of minstrel quoting your answer crossed my mind, and then as i scrolled...... minstrel had quoted

 

Just happened to drop by and saw this. Chris is on messenger almost daily and besides the online business he is active with some offline too. Making a living is not all about the web. Most are professionals who have a real job and the web might be a hobby or part of making a living. While Chris has a big house to maintain in NC profiting from the web alone cant answer it. Jeff also has his own business to run besides being a successful lawyer himself. As for myself I have no time as of now and even handed our family business to my brother. I am one of the project coordinators for the 2008 elections for the Democratic Party here in Maryland and it takes a lot of my time. Creed by the way is in the Insurance business.

And folks I am willing to give a couple of directories that I have left to whoever wants it. Anyone interested can leave me a message here and I will answer as soon as I can. The catch is to take care of it very well and knows good editorial integrity.

Nobody missed me (not that i care) but i think quite a few people realise that the directory industry is completely over run (everyones got one) and that Google penalising directories was a kick to get people thinking about other none directory related projects.

Never put all your eggs in one basket... i know i haven't! Theres no point in being a one trick pony!

 

Agree and Kudos for you and your ventures with in Politics for the moment.

A lot of the DP oldies are still moving around. Just not as active due to life and real life realities. And if you have been here long enough, one will see a turnover of ventures come and go. Everything from Forum Paid Posting Services(there were like over 50 at one time), Blog Networks, Programming Scripts were another hot ticketed item, Gaming forums and anything related to it, Directories and so on. So I am sure once someone finds a new niche online to make reasonable money for a few months than it will be silent running for awhile.

Patience and I am sure many of those who had popular directories will come back online here at DP. They are just out thinking.

Now it is time to start good directory ! Since the business is currently kind of "down" a lot of bad directories will either "expire" or will get neglected. If you start now and make good one you will come out stronger than anyone else in a year or two !

Thats a great point, i agree, a lot of people have lost motivation, at the same time plenty are still interested about what their doing and so you can actually get into a nice position.

Operating a directory can't be a real job? I wonder what I have been doing all these years?

 

hope you save a few spots for the beginners. remember getting to the top is state of mind combined with hard work, think top spots and you will be there.

I'm not sure who claims or holds that mantle, but there is nothing out thee i have seen that can't be beaten.
