No, you can't specify certain keywords for CPM. CPM ads are also contextual, meaning that it's shown based on the content of the page. Basically how it works is that an advertiser selects your site to place CPM ads on. He then assigns keywords for the CPM campaign (just like a normal Adwords ad campaign). When your site loads a page with a corresponding keyword/phrase the CPM ad is displayed.
I'm sure there are thousands (tens of thousands) of sites that are have CPM campaigns running on them. I'm running CPM ads on a couple hundred sites - more being added daily.
The best way to understand how CPM advertising works is to set up a campaing yourself in adwords. You can virtually select any site that has adsense displayed. The wizard will also show you a listing of sites in certain categories and the traffic they receive to give you an idea... I wish Adsense stats would break down clicks and CPM earnings though..
Yeah thats very true, I am going to try this tonight, Every time I do an Adwords Test Campaign, I never go past the Keywords and Estimated CPC! lol
