Don't use raid... this is time to bring out the home made flame thrower. What an adrenalin rush. Straight flame - scrunch up newspaper, light, let burn so lights well, raise under nest and burn them to death. Flame thrower - get a lighter and a full can of deodorant or other can with a good propellant in it. Ignite lighter, hold out in front of you, hold spray can 3 inches behind, aim at nest and spray. (good idea to have a few test runs and some fun first. Whatever method you use, get ready to f'n run after in case one gets away. It's lots of fun and gets your heart cranking like nothing else.
Has anyone ever told you that you are insane. I did mention that I think they are bunking under our shutters, ON OUR HOUSE. Do you want to see me homeless and in jail for burning down my house? And I thought you people liked me. Sob.
Peppermint Oil has been mentioned here . Or this guy recommends: No experience myself, only with midges and mosquitoes.
My sister had huge hornet invasion. They found crevice and built nest inside concrete blocks forming her basement. It took 3 trips by exterminator to get rid of them. If you spray wasps with hair spray or spray starch it will drop them in flight, does not kill them but gums up their wings. For small projects I use raid, blackflag, sprays like someone else suggested but when you can not see nests you have worse prob. Good luck. Shannon
A friend of mine was told about using dryer sheets. That fishermen hang a sheet from their pocket and it keeps the wasp away. So my friend has hung several sheets around her deck and around the kids swing set. She has noticed a difference but our question would be what is the best dryer sheet and we figure you change the sheets when the smell is gone.
Smoke caused by cigarettes, believe it or not, is an excellent bug repellent. Smoke that jawn out and that'll kill those fuckers!
