Anyone know if google penalizes accounts?

No matter what I do I can't get below .20 a click even if I create an ad that is super relevant and obviously is of great quality (for keyword ebay I create an ad that said ebay all over the place and pointed straight to ebay.com, still charged me 20 cents a click!) I am wondering what the deal is because I want to run campaigns for high traffic keywords (with relevant sites!) but cant afford to be charged even 20 cents a click.... i'd go bankrupt in a day! is google penalizing/sandboxing my ads due to my past ad performance?! im about ready to give up on adwords because I really cant afford to pay what they are asking per click. Help me out. Thanks

If you are using a squeezepage price per click can be high, your site should be informative and not just a salespage. You should give your visitors good quality relevant information and this should help reduce cost per click.

You may need to check on your campaign structure and "tighten" it up a bit to improve your Quality score. Keep your ad groups smaller with either one search term or very close variations. Then write targeted ads for each ad group based on those keywords. Generally the only way to reduce your bid cost is by raising your Quality score

Have you read Google's Quality Landing page guidelines? That could help lower your bids to $0.03 -$0.08 just by following it.

Account history is also one of the important factors.... but landing page quality is of super importance for your ads... Are you sure you are getting a great quality score for your keywords.... Just because your landing page is stuffed with the generic keyword will not make it relevant.

i agree with blackscorpion.. he is correct the main thing is there should not be a sales page there should be an informative page that will drive more traffic to your website and will reduce the cost per click and the visitor will come again and again....

guys and gals: my landing pages havent always been super relevant, but in the case of the ebay test there should have been no qualms about it and i shouldnt have paid no more than a cople cents a click. i was bidding on [ebay] with ebay.com as display and landing url. adwords STILL wanted to charged me 20 cents with an OK rating!

No google does not penalize accounts, but they do penalize urls.

You say your ads are super relevant, but that is your personal opinion. Google does not see your opinion, they use linguistic bots and non humans to asses your landing pages, keywords and text ads. Relevance is understanding how google thinks, and not how you think or the average person thinks.

If you cannot afford 0.20 per click, I think you may not be ready for adwords. Honestly, I do not know of very many niches that have avg CPC under 0.20 per click. I think the global average is now close to $0.50 per click for low/med markets and over $1 for mid/large scale markets.

If you truly believe your being sand boxed or penalized, then try opening a new account, but I think the same issues will arise.

Yes. I tried adwords a few times in the past and it was well over $1 per click on a couple phrases that are fairly competitive and just for the local Chicago area. I haven't used it in a long time, because it always seems out of control.
