Anyone know how to upload a PHPMyAdmin xml dump file to a Wordpress database?

Hello all. About a month ago, I bought a Wordpress TV show database from a DP member. I thought I was getting the typical WXR file that you import through the admin, but unfortunately it is a PHPMyAdmin xml dump file, which I know absolutely nothing about. Are there any members out there that are kind enough to walk me through this? If so, I am more than happy to throw some rep your way, and will also hook you up with a list of 10 high PR blogs and websites to submit to.

Since it is a phpMyAdmin xml dump, restore it at phpMyAdmin. :)

If your site has cpanel, mostly it has phpMyAdmin installed.

@ads2help: Thank you for your help, but unfortunately, I have no experience or knowledge when it comes to PHPMyAdmin. I use Hostgator and they have it on their cpanel, but once I get in there I am clueless as far as what to do from there. Please post a detailed description of what I need to do to upload this to my Wordpress site if you have the time.

Here is how you do it, go to phpMyadmin, select your db from the left side, select the import option from the upper tabs, browse then import. :p

Thank you for the help Designstrike. Unfortunately, I have 9 different sites hosted websites, and all it says for the databases is wrdp1, wrdp2, etc. How do I know which one to choose? Once I choose it and then click import, are there any other steps needed?

Try choosing your wrdp_xx that contain your database that you want to add. When you click import, just wait until the progress finish. Make sure to check your wrdp_xx after all file uploaded

You can check your wp-config.php using FTP. The database name is there.

    Cheers.

click one by one the wp tables and browse their data. (because I forgot the specific wp_table already) . :)

you will find the specific site name and from there you can choose the corresponding database you have.

But before you start dumping new db to your existing db, make sure you backup the existing db first. Then in phpMyAdmin, click on the db name (at the left side of the page), eg: wp9. Then click Import tab and upload the db.

But again, before you do anything, make sure you backup your db.
