Anyone know how News blogs make their money? I'm baffled! Help me understand.

I came across a post on another forum where the user posted a little set of instructions on how he makes about $300 a month per news blog he creates. He said he had like around 10 news blogs. So that comes to roughly $3000 per month. He also disclosed at least one niche he focuses on, which was celebrities. He offered some free details how he goes about setting them up and finding a domain or whatever. My question is how do news blogs make money?

I ask because I go to a Yahoo! News article pretty much every day and I see their ads that they place on their news articles. Obviously, they are making money with ads, otherwise they'd use that space for something more profitable, right? Right. Like I said, I read just a Yahoo! News article just about every day and not once have I ever clicked on an ad. I've clicked on ads on other sites (not related to news), but never on a news article. Is it just me? Like how are these news sites making money by ads?

How many of you click on ads on News-related sites like Yahoo! News or news sites related to celebrity news and so on? I had an interest at one point in starting a news site but if I can't see or understand how something is making money other than "selling ad space" then I'm not likely to start it.

Any thoughts or theories? How do news sites/blogs make money with ads and adsense?

I know one thing, it takes a lot of traffic to make good money with Adsense.

Yea, it takes traffic to increase cashflow with just about everything: online and offline. Doesn't look like anyone really knows about what I'm asking. Anyway, oh well. I'll just have to test it and see what the hell is making people click on ads on a news site. Just odd. I can understand other non-news sites, though. But just not making sense on news sites outside of selling ad space to companies/individuals for exposure purposes.

I see your question now. I really feel like people still click on ads just as much on those sites, I know I have before.
