I use atspace.com and freehostia.com (both: no any ads, banners, no forum posting, nothing) for my mini sites, but I'm going to move all my sites to eqwebhost.com (paid host, $3 per month), as these free hosts have slow servers (correct me if I am wrong) and I noticed that my sites on atspace are down quite often - they're just redirected to atspace website...
If you need hosting...Just pm me. I have several unused hosting accounts...for which i have paid for already. So giving away 1 wont be a problem.
I used to use them too while i was studying before i got a server and they we're great as long as you don't have a large site. it had a limit of 50 files if i remember right.
Free hosts usually have slow servers because they usually cram a big amount of websitse on the same server.
I check all the time to see if their registration is open, but every time I check it just says "Registration is open at random times of day. This is intentional...it is now closed." or something along those lines. Very depressing.
110mb.com is really good, though not unlimited bandwidth but its the best in free hosting service, being ads free and service is really good
Look I know a host frihost.com they offer 10 gb bandwidth and i think around 300-500 mb space... but they are reliable all they demand is to post you certain amount of post in their forum..... but all in all its a good host do try them... i had tried a year before but now i have my own hosting space cheers! Abdullah
I am using www.awardspace.com Actually, they are quite good. The Mysql database however, is sometimes down or overloaded.
You can go with free hosting if you really cant throw out a few bucks a month but dont complain when your site is down and there is no support. The fact of the matter is you really should not be starting a business if you cant afford hosting.
I tried using free host for a while and it didn't go well. They either don't support ssi, php stuff or SQL. Best bet is go w/some cheap host. My first host only cost $1 per month and got the job done pretty well. Since then I moved to a bigger host ($10/mo).
I wouldn't recomend using free hosting if your wanting a site. But if you do then check out the thread below. Was posted elsewhere on this forum but thought you might want to hear about it. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=495006
