    Hi,

So yesterday I read expert advice from MediaPost.com and I think it sucked. They claimed that the email algorithm to judge mail as spam is dependent on keywords on the subject line. Note: the subject line. Not true cause I sort of tested it. It has to do with factors in the body of the message mostly. Can anyone help me know what these are.

    a. keywords

Of course, but hmm, what the golly hell about keywords?

    b. # of characters

    Could this be one?

    Bayesian Filtering (en.wikipedia.org)

It's far less effective now than it used to be, which is why we've moved towards identifying forged headers in messages, blacklist/whitelist type options, and communities of people who flag messages.

elcash, before I read it and do research a little further....

Say your company was trying to make a legit email to make link requests to other sites. But it found yahoo putting the message once and again in its bulk email. So you do some researching and find gmail does not but msn does.

You see that your message is extremely long with a lot of repeat phrases.

What would you recommend as a top level solution for this pesky thing. Whitelisting? I may be able to get whitelisted emails from my employer. Would this be the best thing?

    I would suggest:

Try to target your emails as best as possible... If your offers are of value, people will read them and put you on their whitelists...

Put a message somewhere in the email that "if you'd like to continue to receive future emails from us, add us to your address book or trusted senders" or whatever...

Or maybe post the message on your website, as in when people sign up to receive the offers...
