Anyone interested in starting an ad network? (with me? :)

I've just joined up on this forum, which has been a good source of info in the past, to get a partner with my new venture.
I'm going to start a display, and possibly text ad network. I have the technology side arranged already, so thats one big expense gone. I need a partner to give some money, and depending on what your skill set is, help finish up the web site, or help support/attract customers, etc.
Profits are 50% /50% or less or more, depending on investment.
It would be interesting to have one or more people as a partner, so I'll consider two people if we all complement each other nicely.

If you aren't interested, any advice or input is appreciated very much. Even negative, but not too negative:)

Are you looking for a career on the internet or who you consider it it a good part time job?

I own Quality Ad Services, which is an ad network (see sig). I'd be interested in seeing what you have in mind and possibly working with you.

Grave- I only know basic html, unfortunately. I can do good search engine optimization and marketing, though. As far as a web design, its already been created.

I live in the US and I am 26 years old. I finished my masters and worked for various technology companies for 2 years. I've been doing internships with tech companies for another 4 years. I live in the US, in Indiana.
I'm looking for a career in the internet.

BlueCircle, I'm very interested. A PM is on the way.

How much investment money are you looking for? Will the website be similar to other ad networks?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,
I'll be able to give you an estimate of the financial side in a couple of days. Would you like me to PM you then?As for similarity to other networks, in some respects, there is only one way to run an ad network. However, I will change anything to be more profitable. Also, the network will be designed for Web 2.0 type sites, and will be able to accomodate other sites comfortably. It won't be of the same low caliber, of say, sites like Clicksor and Bidvertiser, hopefully, because we offer behavioral and demographic targeting. We'll also have a starting pool of advertisers and publishers, which I can clarify further if you're interested.

Drig, in some respects, there's only one way to do ads, although innovations always a good thing. My goal is, when the profits become large enough, to build a custom solution that brings some innovation and competition to the market. The blunt answer is, though, to start off we'll probably rank lower than the likes of Google and Yahoo, and higher than Clicksor or other minor networks.

Well, i think that there is many advertising networks available. It's really hard to beat up quality and popular competition like Google, Yahoo, Clicksor, AdBrite...

But anyway, good luck with it :)

Ljiljan, I understand what you're saying. But rememer that they are competing for a 17 billion$ a year, and growing 20% a year, industry. And clicksor is terrible! Just my personal opinion in there. Thanks for the luck, I may need it.

Arcade 32, I'll be able to give you a very good financial estimate on Thursday or Friday. Shall I PM you then? Also, I'm not exactly using a script, per se. But you can see the technology in action on a couple of sites.
I'll PM you with the samples

    Thanks.

this is a good idea as most ad networks have at least one major flaw that holds them back - id be interested to know what you would do differently than the rest?

Sebastya-I'm sending you a PM now. It would be interesting to work with a partner who is quite experienced in the business already, as I see from your site monetizepoint.com

msmp3- it would also be good to work with you, as you have business experience, running a host. I'm sending a PM and I will have a financial estimate for you by Thursday.

I'll probably keep this thread open until Thursday or Friday, when I can get a financial estimate to everyone who is interested. So, if you get checks from your own ad network, rather than Adsense, i'm here for you until next weekend. Of course, there won't be much point of operating other sites once I start to mail you your profit shares:)

    Hi,
The total price for the project is $2,000. Out of this, I will cover half. For the other half, I’ve instituted the stock/share program. Each share will cost $100 and will give a 5% profit share. You can buy more than one share to get more profits.
For all investors, I can buy their shares back after a time period. To those who are interested, I have given you PM's and messages with more details.
If anyone else wants to join, now is the time.
